Hello,

I am a bit confused – on the one hand, silicone resin plasters are always promoted as the optimal plaster. I quote: "Probably the best of all plaster mixtures, silicone resin plaster withstands continuous or driving rain. It is also resistant to chemical effects caused by air pollution or acid rain. Silicone resin plaster is also well protected against biological attacks such as infestation by algae and fungi. The deposition of dirt particles, which occurs, for example, through the penetration of polluted rainwater into the pores and capillaries of the coating, is very difficult with silicone resin plaster."

Then I read the following on the datasheet of the silicone resin plaster from the brand Sto Silco K: "Not suitable for horizontal and inclined surfaces exposed to weather."

Okay, for horizontal surfaces where water could remain standing, I understand that. But inclined surfaces where the water can easily run off...?

Then I read an article recommending giving silicone resin plaster a final top coat, as only in this way can the pores in the plaster be sealed so that no water really penetrates.

So what is correct? Is silicone resin plaster with an Sd value like Sto Silco K of 0.07 m and a water permeability rate of <0.05 kg/m²*h^0.5 sufficient to achieve the properties quoted at the beginning in the long term, or is a top coat necessary in any case to maintain this?

We also had our house plastered with silicone resin plaster. This was tinted. We did not apply a topcoat.

Our white silicone resin plaster was not given a top coat either.
