Hello,

has anyone had experience with side awnings for the terrace?

We are looking for something not too expensive that can be easily taken down (for example, if a storm is approaching), we don't want fixed fence panels that break every time, and plastic fences (at least the neighbor's always hold up well) are really expensive...
These side awnings are not too expensive and can basically be rolled up again every day.

But are they any good in everyday use? I'm a bit worried that at some point they won't roll up anymore, for example...

I assume that since you mention your neighbor's fence panels, it is a privacy screen similar to a fence.
How durable they are, I unfortunately cannot say. I think it depends on the workmanship.
The idea is good.

We have now owned a side awning for one year. It still looks like on the first day. It offers us 5 meters of privacy and can be extended or retracted in seconds. Only in case of a storm must it be kept closed because it acts like a sail. We are very satisfied with the purchase decision.

That sounds good. We are currently considering whether we should also choose it because of the flexibility of the privacy screen.

Which manufacturer is yours from? We are looking for one that is 3.5 meters, but there are some starting at 100 euros and others for 600 euros *gulp* For example, when I look on Amazon, I often read that people there have problems with them and that they no longer roll up after a short time (spring system defective), etc.

The manufacturer is Leco. We bought our double-side-pull awning from the hardware store and it cost 199 €. It is very well made and has worked flawlessly so far.
