Would you have a few tips on the topic of shading? The heat should stay outside, but the light should not be blocked.
The simplest solution would be roller shutters everywhere plus a sun sail for the south terrace (we don’t like the look of an awning), which would simultaneously shade the south-facing garden windows of the living room.
Alternatives would be:
(1) No shading at all or only interior curtains/blinds/plissees
Could be an option for the street-side north windows (kitchen, study, guest WC) as well as the west windows of the upstairs bathroom
would save costs
(2) Venetian blinds
We don’t like them visually from the inside
(3) Vertical awning, drop-arm awning or Markisolette
Possibly with semi-transparent fabrics
Would (3) be combinable with roller shutters or are both not possible at the same time?
At least we found a combined solution at Gunkel-Rollladen:

But this seems rather to be an uncommon special solution.
For theft protection, roller shutters are supposedly not necessary; burglar-proof window frames are more important, especially since break-ins often happen during the day.
Other ideas are:
1) In the parents’ bedroom it should be completely dark, so definitely roller shutters there.
2) Especially for the children’s rooms above the living room with floor-to-ceiling south-facing windows you would have to come up with something.
3) Lowering all roller shutters during the day as heat protection won’t work, that would be too dark inside the house for us.
