Hello,

maybe I can get some tips here on how to furnish a large living room cozily?
It is 6 by 5 meters, so quite square-shaped.
There is only a window front along one entire side and opposite, but rather at the edge, the door.
A dining area is out of the question because there is also a dining room.
At first, I thought of a reading corner, but if someone is watching TV then, it bothers me.
Do you have any ideas?

Best regards Gerda

Hi Gerda,

I don't like it when the rooms are so big. My parents also had such a large living room. There was a piano, a reading corner, and on the other side there was also a sort of music corner set up. In between was the living room with a seating area and TV. I always felt somehow lost and kept looking around to see if someone else was in the room somewhere. :) Maybe you could divide the room with room dividers? Then different areas could also work well.

I, however, love large rooms and think it's great when the whole family gets together. We have a TV corner with a large corner sofa and two armchairs. Then a beautiful flower corner with lots of flowers. On the other side, there is a large bookshelf and two armchairs for reading. I find that nicely cozy.

I immediately think of the high heating costs when I hear "large rooms". :) Especially if you spend a lot of time in the room, it might be ventilated more often and then you have to heat again. Even if you are alone in the room, you can't just heat one corner.

Otherwise, I would rather divide the room, because I find it cozier that way. Although 30 square meters isn't that big yet.

But it is not that big. One thing is the heating costs, and I also do not like it when everyone is stuck in one room. I like smaller rooms and I need to be able to retreat. Of course, that is not possible in such a large room.

This room is normal in size. I also like a reading corner, and that can be well accommodated in a room like this. We have that too, and when I read, the TV does not disturb me. Of course, everything is at a normal volume. When I listen to music, I put on headphones.
