Good service as the norm? In the construction industry? Does it exist? We received a call early this morning. The chief carpenter of the construction company we built with in 2017 called. One year now in the house... still satisfied? Everything okay? They would like to come around 3:00 PM to check the doors again, possibly check for cracks, etc. So he came and adjusted all the doors, including those of the Ikea dishwasher, although he actually had nothing to do with it, also the garage door. Inspected everything and found the house otherwise to be fine. Goodbye, and if anything comes up, then you know where we are and how to reach us. Well done. Company Sp. Karsten

Well, in some trades this is common, door, kitchen, and window manufacturers have already announced this. You might think, anything that involves movement? If the window sticks after a year, the client will call and complain anyway. You can get ahead of that. It's a smart thing for the carpenter too. A year later there's money in the budget again for built-in furniture, so you can have a look :)

It certainly wasn't completely selfless, but nice.

With the general contractor we built with, it is standard procedure to follow up after one year to check if everything is okay. Remember, construction is done with him without a contract and without being bound by VOB. There are no withholdings whatsoever. His argument is, trust me, I won't let you down, and we will do a proper job, and this follow-up after one year is a way to build trust.

Trust is your worst enemy in the construction industry. And most defects are still not visible after a year. But good for its image.
