Window sealing: A very complicated matter! I have had 4 of them so far, on each individual window and this with 28 windows. The 4th one is now okay. The complicated thing about it is that there is no DIN standard. There are only recommendations and guidelines, e.g. from the Institut für Fenstertechnik Rosenheim. However, you do not necessarily have to follow them. Unless you have noted it in your contract, which is hardly ever the case. Compressible tape is not necessarily required either (although it is the best solution), what is important is a 3-layer sealing (inside, middle, outside). This must be continuous, so also at the top and bottom. In any case, get a specialist contractor’s declaration for Fenstereinbau und-abdichtung. This should only be carried out by a specialist company. In our case, all 28 windows were installed and "sealed" in 2 days on the 1st attempt, not by a specialist company. The 4th measure, including dismantling, sealing and reinstallation, took 7 working days and cost nearly €7000.
