Hi,

we are going to install a satellite system for our city villa and want to get a rafter bracket for it. According to the carpentry, the rafter distances are not greater than 1m, so it will be the Herkules 48/900 B, as it supports up to 120cm width.

But how exactly does it work? Is it usually done by the roofer if you arrange it with him accordingly (I have already sent him an email and am still waiting for his answer) or can you confidently do it yourself? It certainly has to happen after the roof is covered and you remove the corresponding tiles again to attach the rafter bracket? We have also already ordered a special satellite roof tile. Pulling the satellite cable is also another issue. They also have to go somewhere through the roof. Maybe someone can kindly outline the approximate procedure.

Thank you very much

After I have now spoken with the roofers, the correct procedure is apparently to mount the mast into the rafters before covering the roof. Then the installation can be properly sealed/insulated by the roofers right away (keyword: vapor barrier). If possible, one should also use a rafter through which the cables can be routed inside the mast pipe and thus easily enter the roof. The mast is sealed at the top with a rubber gasket, and then it usually fits.

Currently, I am still unsure whether to do it this way or to opt for a wall mount instead. On the internet, you can find pros and cons for both options. We have a roof exit and the possibility to mount everything properly on the roof. Wall mounting is less complicated and somewhat cheaper but involves drilling into the facade, visual unappealingness, and thermal bridging. What do you think?

If you pee on the wall, you don't need potential equalization.

But personally, I didn't want to hang anything on the facade.

I also think the facade is not nice (to put it mildly). Although I have built a "self-constructed structure" that will probably withstand any hurricane, even if the roof tiles have already blown away, I would still try to route the cable through the mast. For the top, there are such mast caps, a kind of hat. Even during this year's storms, they were absolutely tight for us. To seal the mast and the through-tile, I used self-adhesive tape, and so far no problems here either...
