Sanding lawn - which type of sand is best?

Sorry but I don't know any sand with a 4mm grain size, that is more like fine gravel.

I did the action 2 years ago, I mixed 70% sand from the [Bauhof], the ton for 24 gross and 30% soil.

Beforehand, I mowed the lawn as short as possible.

I distributed it with a self-made lawn scraper. It works great.

Only in spots that were deeper, the grass didn’t make it and I had to reseed.

Now after 2 years, it would have to be repeated because holes have formed again. But currently, I have no desire.

I wasn’t referring to the drainage pipes. Sand simply has a water-draining effect (called drainage). This is better the less it clogs and the more space there is between the grains.


My local gravel plant still calls that sand

Ideal is washed quartz sand in the grain size 0-2mm
