Hi,

I built a new house this year and have an air heat pump from Vaillant, Arotherm with Unitower, 11 kW in my house. There is underfloor heating throughout the whole house and in every room a Busch Jäger room thermostat with rotary knob. My question now is how exactly do you set the room thermostats and how does the setting on the rotary knob relate to the temperature set on the Unitower?

Thanks in advance for the helpful information :-)

Exactly, not at all. These are crude instruments. The function of these parts is:

EMERGENCY BRAKE

In other words, your heat pump pumps heat into the room and at some point the air temperature reaches the value set on the dial.

The thermostat then immediately closes the valve and the heat supply is seemingly interrupted. But since it is underfloor heating and the screed represents a considerable storage, it continues to release heat into the room over hours and overheating can occur if, in addition, infiltrations from the sun, people, devices, ventilation, etc. take place.

Your heat pump has nothing to do with this. It waits until the thermostat opens the flow again.

Ok. But let's take an example. According to the datasheet, if you turn the dial on the thermostat to level 4 (or the dot), it should reach about 20 degrees. But if I now set only 19 degrees in the [Unitower], then the thermostats set to level 4 will not reach 20 degrees, and thus the heating in the room will run endlessly and as a result, the electricity consumption would also constantly increase, right?

Yes and no.

Which parameter on the Unitower do you set to 19 degrees?

Target temperature Room temperature* will it be. However, this usually refers to the room in which the device is located. In other words, if you set it too low, you will never reach the desired temperatures.
