Hello,

on a friend's roof, 90% of the tiles have a chip in the same spot. They were moved several times from A to B, and that's probably how it happened.
Do you have to accept something like that?
You can see it quite well in the photos. On site, it looks even worse. It's always on the bottom right of the tile all over the roof.
If you try to wipe it away, it gets a little less, but the chip is still visible. Even the heavy rain occasionally in the past few days didn't help. You really have to wipe hard for it to get a bit less.

Regards

Hi, this is not caused by transport but the bricks were packaged too quickly and had not yet properly cured. Due to the very high demand at the moment (this has been going on for 2 years), the bricks are no longer cured long enough (normally 6 weeks, now only about 3-4 weeks). As a result, they are still too soft when packaged and get these chips at the contact points during packaging. It’s the same with my bricks.

The rule of thumb is: What cannot be seen from a distance of 10m is not a defect.

Furthermore, the engobe is not a protection for the tiles but only a design element. Therefore, if it is slightly damaged (as shown in the pictures), it is not a defect.

But everything is a matter of negotiation. During construction, we also had defects with the roof tiles here and there or were dissatisfied with the work. Through convincing arguments, quite a few things could be set straight again.

complain and see what happens. The roofer will just pass it on to the supplier anyway. I only see compensation if at all

I had a similar problem myself. I persevered for half a year, received 5 deliveries of [Ortgangsteine] until the error was finally fixed. I also received compensation from the manufacturer for it (all without a lawyer, etc.)

All my [Ortgangsteine] had chipping in the same place. My roof tile was black engobed [Biberschwanz] in double coverage.
