Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything suitable through the search function. One point interests me greatly, namely: We are still quite at the beginning of the house construction and have differing opinions regarding the topic of roller shutters and air draft. Can you say from experience that manually operated roller shutters let cold air through and that this is not the case with electric ones? One side swears by electric because the others let cold air through in winter, but then again some opinions I have heard say electric ones can be very short-lived. Our house advisor says both sides have their advantages and disadvantages. I would now like to know your experience with this.

So... manually operated roller shutters can also be made airtight. This is possible, for example, with a crank drive. It should also be possible with a belt drive. Of course, it is somewhat more complex than with an electrically driven one. Regarding durability: In the past, my father regularly replaced belts due to wear. Currently, my brother occasionally gets annoyed by the old and quite worn-out crank drives on his roller shutters. Meanwhile, my father has converted most of the roller shutters to electric drive. He has also replaced a motor once - after about 10 years of operation.
