Hello everyone

We are currently building a house and I am looking for a system with which I can control the shutters/blinds and the heating, possibly also the garage door via API.
It should also not be based on wireless but wired. Since we are in a new building, I can easily lay cables.
The system does not need to have any logic (e.g. if it is 12 o’clock, turn on the heating).
I would handle this with my own software.
(Actually, I need something like a control unit on Ethernet)

On the internet you are flooded with information, but I really haven’t found an answer on who can do this.

Can someone help me with this?

Thank you and best regards Claudio

Hello Claudio,
Which software do you want to use? That might already limit the options.
I would go with KNX. If it is initially only meant to replace the conventional electrical system, it is cheaper. Logic can be added at any time by adding a server, including visualization.

These "components" are usually too "dumb" for an API and only understand analog signals, so first you need a system that handles signal processing etc., which you can then control via API.

So, if it is supposed to be the all-in-one solution but also wired, there is basically only one answer, and rick2018 has already named it: KNX

There isn’t much to control with the heating in a modern house, even though the manufacturers’ apps might give a different impression. Many even do without room thermostats entirely because it can have advantages for consumption.

Maybe a "small" solution for the blinds is enough for you then.

Hello Rick2018 and MyCraft

I would like to program something myself. Possibly in C# or web-based with PHP / Ajax.

Do you know roughly what KNX costs per roller shutter/blind?

Thanks and regards

Claudio

Are you single and living alone? Your approach for a heating and blind control sounds like a WAF of almost 0 Otherwise, the price depends on the number of blinds. If you assume 8 blinds and take the minimal configuration (MDT 8-fold blind actuator, MDT 160mA power supply, MDT IP gateway), you’re looking at a price per blind channel of about €60. If there are more channels, it tends to get cheaper per channel. Then you can let your programming creativity run wild with any free visualization or other packages. There is also software for people with increased tolerance for suffering
