This assumption makes me curious. Why does "not everyone want" such a solution, which is hardly noticeable to the eye and involves no effort in case of repair? Building expert on the go

I agree - colleague had a nice board with screws in front of it and had to work on it twice in 6 years... No longer nice :D

I think I misinterpreted Sebastian’s post, I thought he also had such an ugly board with screws. But he actually wrote: In my circle of acquaintances, everyone has external roller shutters, who are happy with them. One even has no shutters installed at all. It seems to be a matter of taste, although I think that the thermal bridge is still an argument.

I personally find [Vorbaurollläden] extremely ugly - but thermal bridges are probably negligible by now, right? We also have four windows on the ground floor that don't have any shutters :)

....so I didn't mean front-mounted roller shutters (so these attached, semicircular boxes)... Only the inspection cover is accessible from the outside and is not inside. I didn't know that before. ;)
