Hello everyone,
after our new building was finally completed in December, we had our garden laid out at the end of May. Unfortunately, we had a bit of a falling out with the company that laid out our garden. That is why this company is not our first choice for obtaining information.
We have a total of about 80 sqm of lawn area on which Sport&Play turf was laid.
According to the gardener, some fertilizer was applied directly under the turf. About 60 cm of nutrient-enriched soil was spread and compacted under the turf.
Unfortunately, we had the problem that our turf was laid at a time when the midday sun was already around 25-30°C.
Now our Sport&Play turf has been laid for about 8 weeks.
Unfortunately, we have had problems from the very first minute.
1-4 weeks = Watered daily with about 15L/m², nevertheless the individual turf strips were visible and there were gaps between the individual strips.
When walking on the lawn, you felt a strong sinking sensation. As soon as you mowed over it, you could also notice how uneven the turf surface was.
4-7 weeks = Watered daily with about 10L/m², the individual turf strips were no longer visible, but the lawn still appeared uneven and you had the feeling of sinking when walking on it.
7-8 weeks = The summer temperatures are currently exploding, so now I water on day 1 with 20L/m² and on day 2 with 15L/m², and yet the entire lawn area appears green/brown in many places, the lawn looks dried out! When walking on the lawn, you no longer sink in.
The irrigation always runs depending on intensity between 11 PM and 3 AM.
Irrigation is done with household water and a Gardena irrigation system.
Now our question would be:
- Why do we have so many brownish spots despite this amount of water?
- Is there a way to make the lawn a bit more even (currently it looks rather uneven like cobblestone)?
- Should we perhaps fertilize? If so, is that even possible at the current temperatures?
- How should I adjust the irrigation amount or the irrigation period?
Thank you very much
