Hi,

we were asked if we wanted roller tracks on the patio doors. As far as I know, it’s definitely not a bad thing because of the water. I don’t find them particularly practical though, because we specifically chose a low setup for the patio door. We wanted to avoid a bigger step, but with the roller track there would be one again. On the internet, you’ll find – like everywhere – divided opinions.
Has anyone here also decided against the roller track and could tell me how they sealed the whole thing later on? Are your patio slabs or paving directly next to the door or is there a drainage channel in between?
So far, the surface has been coated multiple times with MB 2k from Remmers.

I would be grateful for any tips

The alternative is a grate in front of the door. I would choose one of the two.

Wooden terrace up to the door (without roller layer). Then you also won't have an (unsightly) grate in front of it.

My husband really wanted a channel. Research showed that hardly anyone does that, so we don't have one. Due to the slope and the roof overhang, not even heavy rainwater really reaches there to make a channel necessary!

If we had tiles fixed with grout, I probably would have done it, but like this it wouldn’t have made any sense. We realized that afterwards.

Oh, unless the door is completely flush with the floor, of course, then we probably would have made a channel as well!
