Retroactive balcony mounting device

I would like to get some advice. We had a prefabricated house built through a general contractor. We had a balcony built, but at the time of selection, we decided to install the balcony railing ourselves. Unfortunately, the builder did not inform us that a device would be necessary for the attachment. Now I am looking for companies to fix the railing for us, but all refuse because the facade and insulation would have to be cut open extensively in order to screw the railing onto the wooden beam, and no one wants to take on the warranty. How can we deal with this issue with the house builder? Does the forgotten device count as a construction defect?

Well, you ordered and received a house with a balcony without a railing. Since YOU wanted to install the railing yourselves, YOU—not the general contractor—should have sought the conversation. Because the general contractor had no idea what kind of railing YOU intended to install later. Therefore, he also didn’t know what was needed. From my point of view, this is not to blame on the general contractor, but (unfortunately) on you. See to it that you find a solution yourselves. The general contractor is out of the picture. In my opinion, it’s really an expensive lesson. Maybe there is still an easier solution. Sorry...

First of all: General contractor or property developer? I don’t see a defect here at first, or did you say: "Please install the attachment fixture!"?

Balcony in own work actually means complete balcony, if it was agreed that railing is own work on existing fastening points...

Many people have this problem at the latest with the awning, for example. We had considered it and specially ordered the mounting. What surprises me is that no one is tackling it; do you have any special requests?

I see that the construction company is also under no obligation. But if the balcony is already there, I also don't see the problem why you have to go through the facade. Can't the railing be attached to the balcony?
