Dear homeowners

I have purchased a condominium and am considering installing a retractable steam extractor in the kitchen.
I simply do not like the "normal" steam extractor hoods; in my opinion, they are too large and obstruct the entire view, which is why I tend to opt for a retractable solution.

However, the question now arises whether these are good? Does anyone have experience with retractable steam extractors?
Advantages/disadvantages compared to normal extractor hoods?

Thank you very much for your numerous responses.

One must consider the duct routing when installing afterwards - for extracting air exhaust hoods. A retractable extractor requires a different duct routing than those mounted on the ceiling or otherwise above the cooktop - I am thinking of the types retractable into the countertop or base cabinet. However, there are also extractors retractable into wall cabinets or into the ceiling... which type did you have in mind?

Good day

I have thought of a model that can be recessed behind the cooktops, so not in height, but directly on the cooktop.

Are these good, especially with regard to the extraction? Advantages/disadvantages?

Thank you very much for your answer.

From personal experience, I am not familiar with retractable extractor hoods. When searching the internet, one reads about both good and bad experiences. It probably depends a lot on how often and elaborately one cooks.

From a technical perspective, the duct routing for retractable exhaust extractor hoods is somewhat more complicated, as the relatively thick ducts run through the cabinet or floor area and must be connected to an existing exhaust shaft, whose connection opening - at least with a retrofitting - is probably not located close to the floor.

Hello everyone, does any forum user use such a retractable system? Experience reports would be interesting, as I only know it from reading and watching.
