Hello,
in spring 2015 I want to look at lawn for the first time. Completion of single-family house was in 2013. It is about 250 sqm slightly sloping area (height difference about 30 cm) and full S/W orientation without much shade. An old, mature beech hedge from the 1950s is present. The subsoil is poorly permeable to water and clayey. In October "Kultursubstrat grob" was newly applied in about 20 cm thickness. There was also lawn on the area in the last 40 years, but not much was left after demolition and rebuilding. It should be a low-maintenance, normal lawn, which I just want to mow when needed (once a week?). I have heard something about playing and sports lawn. Garden tiller, roller, seed spreader etc. are available from the neighbor. It is also planned to add/deliver some more "soil." The area has already settled a bit and we still have about 15 cm up to the edge of the terrace.
My question: Which lawn or lawn mixture should I buy for the above-mentioned conditions? Price is secondary. Can someone give me a recommendation?
P.S. My other neighbor took the cheapest stuff from the hardware store, scattered it on a large scale generously by hand and shovel and reseeded the patchy spots again and again. The lawn is thriving and looks good. But that can't be the way to go, or can it?
Thanks in advance.
