Repair sand-lime brick wall with mortar

Oh dear, with bonding the offset of the stones on the right side is meant (or ?) it couldn't be done differently, otherwise one stone after another would have fallen down, hence the beginner's makeshift solution (I thought I'd let a plant or something grow up in front of it).
