Renovate or smaller house?

I think you have to weigh the local real estate situation here. With us, every dump is sold at top prices, so it would be stupid to invest too much money in renovation. You just have to calculate in advance what is worthwhile. We looked at a house because of the location: built in 1900, living area 150 sqm, 50 sqm garden, price €380,000. However, we only found out the price during the viewing... after that it was clear to us that we would build new.

I also think the question of renovation cannot be answered so generally. What you do when you know you want to sell soon can certainly only be answered reasonably on a case-by-case basis.

But in the specific case here, it's surely still a little way off :cool:
