... be careful when it comes to facade insulation on old houses without ventilation systems, etc. I did everything without KFW, etc., because it was too complicated and expensive for me to meet their requirements or conditions. But I also did and implemented a lot myself on my own initiative. Local craftsmen were involved (almost exclusively friends from the village).
My personal opinion on these internet posts regarding indoor climate ... blah blah. Many DIY enthusiasts and people who work independently with friendly craft companies and mates from the trade often (still) don’t hang around internet forums, etc. It’s similar to the news ... you hear and read what the majority thinks and what you’re supposed to read. Don’t worry so much and work with local professionals instead of internet comments and YouTube videos. An energy consultant is of course an option, but if you do everything yourself, it’s not a must. It only becomes obligatory when subsidies are involved. But even here, there are theoretically and practically oriented energy consultants. If you absolutely need one because you don’t have a good contact with local craftsmen and want to take advantage of subsidies, make sure it’s not just a pure energy consultant but maybe a craftsman licensed to advise ...
You come here with "online blah blah" and so on, but you start right away with general pub talk aka "be careful when it comes to facade insulation on old houses without ventilation systems, etc." You’re welcome to add "if there is no proper planning behind it or if it is planned and/or implemented by incompetent pseudo-experts," ... then I would even agree with that.
The local craftsmen from the village are often, mentally speaking, decades behind ... which may be OK for many applications, but usually not for modernizing a house to the current state of the art (even if you personally see no advantages, some others certainly appreciate the benefits of a modern house, especially regarding living comfort). One wonders what you are doing in an online forum with such an attitude ... you could just talk to your local contacts in the pub?!
People seek advice online precisely because you can’t simply trust "local specialists" per se. As a layperson, it’s almost impossible to assess whether the "expert" really knows what they’re doing without getting several opinions from at least somewhat neutral people. That’s exactly what’s possible online, that’s exactly what such forums exist for, and they fulfill that purpose quite well. Of course, you should have the actual execution done by local professionals whenever possible, but whether those professionals are really professionals… or professionals from the previous decade, or those who only pretend to be, or... or... often you just don’t know.
