For timber frame constructions and the bathroom on the 1st floor, an important tip: Try to incorporate a waterproof "black tub" (made of bitumen) during the renovation. It can be done well as a DIY project and protects the rest of the house below against possible moisture escaping, such as unplanned flooding, etc. (which of course should never occur).

Thanks for the tip! I will explicitly address this again with the tiler or the plumber. Better safe than sorry.

So, a tiler was here today, yes actually on Sunday. He wanted 3,000 euros for about 20 sqm of tiles (floor and wall tiles, shower area up to the ceiling, the rest about half-height), excluding tiles. For completely normal 0815 30x30cm, 30x60cm etc. tiles I think we will gratefully decline the offer.

Hello, that would be about 8-10 working days based on estimated hourly wages. Since tiling a bathroom is significantly more complex than tiling a square living room, that could definitely be within the realm of reality. Certainly also somewhat influenced by the ongoing unavailability of tilers. I would also get a second offer. Try to get a reasonable flat rate (for both sides) including the previously selected materials - done  (if there is a tiler who agrees to that)

Working time would be 5 days. I find 140 euros/sqm somewhat ambitious. But yes, a second offer will be obtained. Only the tiles will be provided for the material. The rest can be brought by the tiler, as he knows best with which materials he can achieve good results. Attached are also some photos of the bathroom.
