Hello everyone,
I am new here in the forum. Since I still want to do quite a bit in the garden and around the house, I would appreciate an active exchange and many good tips.
My next project is called: Repaving the driveway. This driveway, with about 70 sqm, was paved in 1970 and as you can imagine, it doesn’t look great anymore, at least not from a visual point of view.
Now I want to remove the old paving layer and lay new stones. The existing base on which the stones lie is made of sand. Since it is a driveway, ruts are, of course, visible as well. In your opinion, what effort do I need to undertake before I can lay the new stones? Ideally, I would like to remove the old sand surface and refill, level, and lay the new stones accordingly.
Is that possible, or do I need to excavate deeper?
That brings me to my second question: Should I use sand again, or is fine gravel the better choice?
Thank you very much for your support.
