Hello everyone,

we have decided to renew the floor in the entrance area and on the living level (the house is built into the hillside - the entrance is in the basement). Currently, there are brown tiles everywhere with about 1cm wide grout lines. To give you an idea, it looks like this: Entrance area (approx. 7 sqm) --> spiral staircase (also tiled) --> dining area: kitchen on the left (with the only access to the garden); living room on the right (also open to the dining area). The house has underfloor heating and we have a child who is 1 year old. The entrance area and stairs will definitely be tiled. At the moment, we are very torn regarding the choice of flooring. When it comes to durability, tiles are clearly the frontrunner. In terms of appearance, another covering would be the nicest. Our main concern: tiles are cold (I like to walk barefoot, child plays on the floor) and hard. Visually and in terms of "warmth," we would prefer parquet (oak, oiled) everywhere. But at least in the kitchen (and probably also in the dining area due to the passage through the dining/kitchen area to the garden), parquet is certainly not suitable. The new flooring should also last significantly more than 10 years. Do you have any ideas as an alternative to tiles - especially in the kitchen/dining area?

Best regards

Design vinyl glued down. Durable, can be cleaned wet, well suited for underfloor heating. Affordable.

Is this also suitable for the kitchen in the long term? (Especially if I place the kitchen on it? How does vinyl behave in terms of durability?

Best regards

There are qualities that are available at Karstadt within walking distance. There is also cheap crap. Take something like wineo ambra wood or similar, 0.3 mm wear layer. That is enough for living areas. That certainly works in a kitchen, why not? Karsten

I would also recommend vinyl! This flooring is available in tiles as well as wood look. It is durable, waterproof, and can be installed by a layperson alone. Additionally, it is very warm underfoot and also suitable for installing underfloor heating since you like walking around barefoot ;) I have also laid vinyl at home and am totally satisfied!!! It is also very robust and hygienic and antibacterial, which is definitely an advantage because of the child.

I hope I could help.
Best regards

Hey!
My family and I have also just gone through a move. We were in a similar situation as you and also decided on design vinyl! We have a local dealer and are super satisfied. We have had the floor for more than a year now and it still looks as TOP as ever. And in terms of its properties, it also seems to be well suited for you.

Best regards, der mathis!
