Hello

If there are still foam residues from the carpet, then rent a "stripper" (electric scraper) to remove the foam. Otherwise, scrape by hand...

Then, depending on what type of new covering you want to lay, that might be enough, or you may also need to remove the carpet adhesive from the subfloor. You do this with a floor sander.

If you want to glue down a new parquet floor, then you must remove all residues. If you want to lay a carpet again or a floating parquet – i.e., not glued to the subfloor – then it is enough not to sand/mill off the carpet adhesive.

Regards, Angel

the solution is at the hardware store

if you ever go to the hardware store you can borrow a device there that works like an electric scraper. The advantage is that you don’t have to treat your floor with some chemical stuff and therefore there are no toxic fumes. It does make noise but I find that much healthier than having the place stink like a lab for weeks. Especially if you have children or pets, this is the better solution.

I have also done that recently and borrowed a disc sander. I did this with the HSM 300 and after a few minutes it worked well.

So chemical stuff is out of the question for me. Scraping by hand is also too time-consuming. An electric scraper is the right tool for removing carpet residues.

Nothing is done by hand here anymore. I own a grinding machine and with it, all old residues from the carpet as well as from the adhesive can be removed easily.
