Hello,
I am currently in the process of completing my electrical planning / installation in the outdoor area.
My exterior wall consists of a 6cm thick wood fiberboard (complete wall construction from outside to inside: 6cm wood fiber, 20cm insulation wool 0.35, 1.5cm OSB, 6cm installation level with 6cm insulation wool 0.40, 1.5cm OSB & 1.25cm plasterboard).
I want to install a few cameras outdoors here (G5 Turret Ultra).
Now, the camera itself has a connection cable that needs to be stored somewhere + the network supply line with a connector coming from the house.
My first idea was to use a Kaiser Econ Iso + box and install the camera on it. But the diameter does not fit. The box is too big or the camera base is too small. You can see it anyway you want... I have not found another box for wood fiberboards yet.
Option 2 would be to use a conduit and try to connect the cable and push it back as far as possible. However, this is not 100% tight and air/moisture may possibly enter my installation level... Of course, there is still the option to foam and seal the conduit on the inside.
Option 3: Mill/drill a recess with a diameter of 3-4cm and a depth of 3cm (50% of the wood fiberboard), route the network cable from the inside there and have everything plastered normally. Then place the camera above it.
Do you see any problem with Option 3 that the insulation / wood fiberboard is weakened too much and a thermal bridge is created?
It wouldn’t be any different with the box anyway (or there is also a weakening with sockets etc.).
Regards
