Rebuild the steel lintel or clad it from below

Hello friends of refined craftsmanship,

I am concerned with the following question for a DIY project:
Note: All data have been properly determined by a structural engineer. However, several solutions seem possible for the following issue, so I hope for many ideas and suggestions.
A larger opening width (5m) is to be made in a 24-brick exterior wall. The current clear shell construction height is about 2.75m. An IPE450 lintel was calculated and recommended, since it results in almost the desired final clear opening height of 2.25m (a sectional door is to be installed - as it is a garage) after installation (1-2 cm of packing mortar on the beam up to the ceiling). However, lower steel beams such as HEA300 or similar would also be conceivable, which would very likely lead to more favorable prices and easier handling.

The question now is, if one chooses a shallower lintel/beam, should it be built up above with masonry and underpinned, or placed directly below the floor slab and then clad from below (profiles, XPS, Wedi, or similar) to reach the 2.25m clear opening? The advantage of the latter option would be that if a thicker floor buildup (tiles or similar) is chosen later, this cladding could be adjusted more easily.

Thanks and best regards
