RAL 7016 - Cheaper than other tones or why is it so popular?

Why do almost everyone with gray windows have the RAL color 7016? There are also many other RAL colors. For example, I like RAL 7021. That is even darker. A kind of black-gray.

Is RAL 7016 a standard shade and therefore cheaper than rather unknown tones? I currently also have RAL 7016 in the contract. But I don't know if I should change it.

An architect advised against even darker window frames because they would get very hot in the sun. But I don't know if RAL 7016 or RAL 7021 would make such a big difference.

Which specialist brick color did you choose for RAL 7016?

That is probably true.
So you take a lighter color for the windows that you like. The lighter, the less heat absorption.
In my opinion, the roof tiles do not necessarily have to be matched to the window color, but rather to the facade. With the tiles, the selection is limited anyway.

It is not because of cheaper production, but rather due to the same herd mentality of consumers that also leads to the demand for supermarket apples being concentrated on mainly a handful of varieties. Seventy-sixteen is the standard issue among house-building anthracite tones, just like every frozen pizza manufacturer has the "salami" variety in their range. Why doesn’t he recommend a "fresh stone gray" (7030) like Paul Winkelmann? Personally, I would find pearl mouse gray (7048) nice.

It feels like everyone has anthracite windows these days. Personally, I can't stand it anymore. Townhouses with anthracite windows are somehow everywhere. I wanted it once too (it does look cool), but I got tired of it because of the oversaturation. That's why we chose light grey (I think 7035) for the windows and front door.

I think RAL7016 is so popular because EVERYTHING else (terrace roofs, canopies, balustrade railings, carports, paint for garden houses, roof tiles, etc etc etc also comes exactly in this color. And mostly without a big extra charge.

Or is everything available in that color precisely because it is so popular? Chicken or egg problem

With other shades of gray, one probably has just as few problems. For example, 2 out of 3 front door suppliers offered 7035. All the windows requested had it.

Interesting only: For the 7035 front door, we were the first at the manufacturer to order it at all crazy. The salesperson said they sell almost only white or 7016.
