There has always been a compost heap in my parents' garden, so I have known it for more than half a century. Therefore, I can say that there have never been major problems with any unwanted animals. Except for the occasional mouse, but you have to expect those anyway.

brief feedback after the security measures > 1 week ago: So far, no animal seems to have tried again. At the moment, it is not even apparent that the said creature attempted an "under-digging". But maybe the hunger is not great enough right now for the effort. Or the neighbor's composter is more easily accessible ;). Let's see how the next weeks go.
