Since I am doing the painting work on our new build myself, I have a few questions for the experts here in the forum. It concerns a wall in the stairwell that extends from the basement through the ground floor up to the upper floor. In the basement and ground floor, the wall is plastered with MP75. From the upper floor, these are gypsum board walls that have been spackled and sanded. Additionally, on the upper floor next to the gypsum board wall, there is a drywall partition serving as a replacement for the stair railing. My thought was to apply a 2mm textured plaster to all the walls. However, at the end of the gypsum board wall where it meets the filigree ceiling, a steel strip is installed. Should this be removed and filled before I plaster the wall, or can I spackle over the gap with the strip in place? It is the wall to the left of the stairs. The strip looks like in the first picture. I am very grateful for any tips.
