Hello everyone,

I want to install an irrigation system in the garden with 4 watering zones as well as a "continuous pressure connection". We already purchased a retention cistern with the plot and would like to use it. Now the question arises as to which pump should be used.

Key data:
- 4 watering zones (none of which should run in parallel)
- continuous pressure connection with three outlets (water sockets)
- garden area approx. 400m²
- longest distance of a sprinkler (around the house once) approx. 50m

Price:
I think anything up to around €600 would be acceptable

Do you have any ideas?

Best regards
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

for your project, a multi-stage garden pump or domestic water system with pressure switch would be the most sensible solution – especially because you want a constant pressure connection. Make sure the pump provides at least 4–5 bar of pressure to reliably operate even the most distant sprinkler, and about 3,000–5,000 l/h flow rate, depending on how many sprinklers you run per zone. Brands like Gardena, T.I.P. or Metabo have solid devices within your budget. Important: If you want to use three withdrawal points simultaneously (even if the zones run consecutively), the pump should not be undersized; better to plan some reserve. And remember: dry-run protection and check valve are mandatory, especially when operating with [Zisternenbetrieb]!

Regards,
Chris
