Protection from leaves and needles for house perimeter/spray guard - is there something for that?

Hello everyone,

we have been living in our single-family house surrounded by many trees for 2 years, so this is also our second autumn here.
We have a house edging (splash guard) made of basalt rubble – and this is exactly where my little problem or rather my question comes in!

Nearly every day, many needles and leaves get “caught” in the edging, which are hardly removable with a hand broom. Admittedly, this is not problematic but also not exactly very nice.

Is there any (temporary) product for the autumn months that protects against this? I am thinking of a net or something similar that can simply be swept off. Google unfortunately did not bring up anything about this.

Are there others besides me who are bothered by this, or do you just let the remains rot there?

Looking forward to your posts.

David

Hello David! Our neighbor always borrows a device (similar to a handheld vacuum cleaner) from the settlers' association at the beginning of December. With it, he can blow away dry leaves and needles in dry weather or also vacuum them into a collector. The suction power can be adjusted differently so that the basalt debris does not end up in the collector. Such devices can certainly also be bought at the hardware store.

This infernal device from the devil's hand goes by the sonorous name [Laubsauger] or [Laubbläser] and is available at every hardware store...

Thank you for your contributions, I had not thought of a leaf blower at all. Until now, I had categorized it among the noisy and ineffective garden tools.

I also use a leaf blower for splash protection. It works wonderfully. Where it doesn't work is in our small area with fine/lighter stones. There, the stones get sucked up as well. If I turn the blower's dial down a bit, unfortunately the leaves/needles are not attracted. I am currently still looking for a solution there.

Mother-in-law lovingly sweeps the splash guard around her house with a very fine, light hand broom However, it is probably not recommended to imitate this

I would also use a leaf blower. In a pinch, if it’s only a manageable area, the regular, adjustable vacuum cleaner. By the way, it almost works better the other way around: gently blowing out the leaves and needles with a soft air stream. But you have to hurry pretty much if rain is forecast
