Hello forum,

after browsing through this and other forums for several years and constantly looking for a solution to my problem, the solution has now been created by myself.

The problem: We have two 30cm thick concrete columns in the entrance area (in front of the front door) which are to be illuminated all around.

Side note: Individual spots in the floor are not liked and are not an option due to steps directly in front of the column. Unfortunately, I have not found any commercially available solution to my problem anywhere.

The solution: I came up with a construction myself that can be used outdoors and looks exactly the way I imagine it.

So if anyone has been looking for something similar, just get in touch and I can send a few more pictures and details.

Sure, gladly. What exactly do you want to know?

I executed the whole with 5cm height to have some space for the wiring, but it would even be possible with less; from my point of view, at least 2.5-3cm height is necessary. The entire construction is level with the granite; we deliberately refrained from baseboards on the columns.
It consists of 2 half rings, which were milled from POM. Inside there is an LED strip and on top a diffuser panel. The milled parts run around the columns with a width of 5cm.
Since we have 3cm thick granite covering (plus 3cm drainage concrete) on the stairs, the height of 5cm was perfect and it was not too fiddly to wire.
The power supply is of course located outside the columns.
Because the columns have a special shimmer color, it looks even better when standing directly in front. The LEDs are quite bright with 12 watts/m, so the entire entrance area is richly illuminated.

Thank you for your explanation. Sounds pretty complicated. Not feasible for me. :D I'll ask my electrician, I still have the chance since nothing is paved yet. Where did you hide the power supply for the LEDs?
