Hello everyone,

does anyone of you have ideas or even personal experiences with a driveway from the village street into the property? The property is located about 1-2 meters higher than the street and we don’t yet know how to best plan it without losing much space. After the incline, it is completely straight. The width is about 20 m and the length 30 m. I am sending the picture right away.

Thanks in advance

As steep as possible. The only other option would be an elevator; unfortunately, climbing stairs is difficult for vehicles.

The problem comes before the space question, how to achieve it most cost-effectively.
You have already posted a contribution with the tight budget – now you come with a problematic plot of land.
Isn't your father/grandfather/uncle an architect? What does he say about it?

Yes, exactly my grandpa, but I haven't asked him yet because he lives farther away and we won't see each other until at least November. I just wanted to write in to see if anyone has had something like this before and to get some inspiration. Where do you see the big problem? Sure, if you make the driveway flat, there’s a lot of earthworks, but I actually think it’s better that the house is not directly at the same level as the street.

Find out how much the disposal of excavated soil costs in your region and with the existing soil classification.

Earthworks are the most unpredictable cost item in house construction and, compared to other jobs, arguably the most expensive. In addition, masses of soil not only have to be excavated but also disposed of. You can quickly pay €5000 and more for 1000 cubic meters. Plus transport. You get about 1000 cubic meters with a normal house excavation on a 100sqm footprint. So the costs add up considerably here.
If the development plan says you can put a parking space or garage 5 meters from the street, roughly several thousand cubic meters must be removed. Keep in mind: soil loosely piled on a truck has more volume than natural soil.
Then you have your parking space at street level or with a slight slope but are still not at the height of the house. That means paving and steps to the house.
And then the expensive retaining of your parking space with L-shaped stones to the higher property.
This won’t be a financial walk in the park.
