Hello,
I want to properly waterproof my basement, which is made of cast concrete. I got some bitumen roofing membranes from an acquaintance who had some left over from his construction project.
He said it is okay to just torch them onto the concrete floor in the basement.
Now I have some questions that couldn't be answered:
1. Does/should the floor be primed beforehand?
2. What advantages do bitumen roofing membranes with aluminum actually have? When are they used?
3. Should the membranes overlap a bit on the walls (upwards), or is it enough to just cover the floor?
Regards!
