Hello there

We have ordered a nice Hörmann front door which we would like to have installed by a carpenter in the classic mounting method in about a week - not RAL mounting with sealing tape, but sealing with mounting foam. For a RAL mounting, I would have had to pay around €400, which now exceeds my financial budget.

Of course, I still want the front door to be installed airtight. Are there any manufacturers of mounting foams here that are highly recommended (maybe Würth, or Ceresit 2-K for door mounting foam)?

Or do you generally advise against the classic installation method here?

Regards, Stefan

Installation according to the state of the art is mandatory

Hello Stefan,

regarding your question, I can only recommend that you have the door installed according to the state of the art in any case. Any craftsman who does not do this is making a big mistake. Craftsmen are actually obligated to do so. The term RAL installation is actually incorrect here. The door only needs to be installed according to certain guidelines. And since the energy certificate for houses is becoming increasingly mandatory, you shouldn’t be penny-pinching here. The additional costs can then, for example, be quite quickly offset by heating cost savings.

Best regards
Peter
