Hello, we want to cover our interior walls with Fermacell boards. What is best suited for working on the boards (circular saw, jigsaw)? What is best used to fix the boards (screws or nails) Best regards A. Müller-Wissmann

Hello,
I cut the panels with a circular saw and an old saw blade. I screwed the panels together.

Hello,
I am revisiting the question.
How did you connect the panels to each other?
Did you simply install the panels without gluing or filling the joint (I do not mean filling the joint or screws) ? What experiences do you have with the panels installed in this way?

Regards

Ansgar

Hello!

Insufficient answers usually indicate an unclear question.

What are you planning? Do you want to cover existing walls - for example in an old building? What is the substrate? Why gypsum fiber (Fermacell) and not gypsum board?

Or do you want to design interior walls in lightweight construction? Which framework - wood or aluminum?

I am a big Fermacell fan, but the processing is really unpleasant due to the dust development!

Usually, walls in a framework are designed as described by fischaqua. I would cover existing masonry with gypsumboard panels.

Best regards, Tomtom.

The panels were delivered to us in the house by the builder. We have a wooden studwork.

Hi!

So, we back then
- screwed the panels to the substructure. However, you don’t need self-drilling screws for wood
- filled the joint with Fermacell plaster (no idea if it contains additives)
- sealed the Fermacell/Fermacell connections in the ceiling area with acrylic
- sealed the connections to the masonry with silicone.

Today, I would
- consider using reinforcing tape (some panel joints are visible)
- seal all connection joints on ceilings and walls with silicone (which apparently is now also paintable).

Best regards,
Tomtom.
