Hello everyone,

thank you for your help. So why did the installers mount the long white thing under my washbasins? Water flows into it when I pull the plug to keep the water from draining. Maybe they installed it completely wrong?

Both siphons would - as far as I can see - fit for me. I will send this to the gentlemen in advance so that they bring the relevant material.

Thanks again.

Best regards
Gregor

Did some research, "the white long thing" is actually a flat siphon, it was probably installed incorrectly.

Thank you for the effort. It must definitely be installed incorrectly, because it does not hold back water as a smell barrier. It only does that when I pull the "plug". The technicians apparently had never seen this thing or such a siphon before (they only knew the classic, normal siphon - as did I, by the way, but I am also not a professional). Therefore, I am sure that they did something wrong.

Thanks again.

Regards
Gregor

The problem with this washbasin is the combination of siphon and drawer. A normal classic siphon simply does not fit. Either something flat like the one apparently incorrectly installed in your case, or something like what Alex posted, where the siphon (of whichever type) is moved to the wall.

Question: which stopper are you talking about and where is it? Some flat siphons (I know it from the shower) have a plug to disable the siphon function. This is used, for example, for pipe cleaning so that the cleaning rod does not have to go through the siphon (which is impossible to pass through).

Hi,

I meant the lever that you operate so that running water from the faucet collects in the sink and does not drain away. The lever is located behind the faucet. I can't say exactly where the thing leads to, but definitely behind the trap.

But I haven't seen a stopper on the flat trap so far.

A different question: Siphon or siphon, which is correct?

Thanks and best regards Gregor

Ask Mr. Duden about the spelling.

Ikea also solves this with a backward offset.

Somehow you have to ensure that the siphon collects water and thus creates an airtight barrier. Possibly installed the wrong way around?
