Preliminary contract for house purchase or right of withdrawal from house purchase?

Now honestly, what answer do you expect from a salesperson? It's really crazy that you let yourself get unsettled by something like that. I was with 2 general contractors I didn’t build with and both said, "But we’re raising prices in 2 months, you better sign now" :-p.

Sign the preliminary contract and I promise you won’t get out of such a contract without compensation in the five-figure range.

There's a reason why quick decisions are not advised here!

I have been spending my life for decades almost exclusively among engineers and computer scientists; I have absolutely no experience dealing with salespeople, brokers, sellers, etc. ... it is one of the most disappointing experiences in my life how this group of people acts. I am already looking forward to the phase when I will no longer have any contact with this milieu.

These are all just games. The only thing that matters is the price on the day of signing, and that will no longer be 2019. Whether he adjusts his prices according to calendar years, the weather without moon phases, it doesn't matter at all. If he is more expensive than the competition, he can adjust to that or the signature will be made elsewhere. It's that simple.

Thank you for all your answers. I learned today from an expert on prefabricated houses that indeed many construction companies raise their prices on 01/01. So it apparently is not a sales trick.

That may be, but why don't you tell your seller that only the old price counts for you, otherwise you'll buy elsewhere? See what happens then.
