Now honestly, what answer do you expect from a salesperson? It's really crazy that you let yourself get unsettled by something like that. I was with 2 general contractors I didn’t build with and both said, "But we’re raising prices in 2 months, you better sign now" :-p.
Sign the preliminary contract and I promise you won’t get out of such a contract without compensation in the five-figure range.
