Good day, I am a new

I came across the forum and noticed that there are some professionals here, maybe you can help me or give me a tip.

I would like to extend or add onto my parents' house. What I am currently concerned about is the question whether you can simply "place" a prefabricated concrete ceiling onto an existing beam ceiling with Faulboden.

The house was built in 1960 and does not have the thickest bricks. My parents live on the ground floor, the upper floor has a knee wall with a sloping roof. In between there is the wooden ceiling with Faulboden. My plan is to remove everything upstairs, if possible place a concrete ceiling on top, and then build 1.5 stories on top of that again. The concrete ceiling will probably have to span freely over 8.2 meters since there is no load-bearing wall going completely through the house.

Can anyone tell me if that is fundamentally possible? Or are my details still too unclear or inaccurate?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

No one here can reliably answer that for you!

Consult a structural engineer with the documents of the existing house and have him review the previous calculations. Then you will know exactly what is possible or not – and that is the nice side effect – the structural engineer you find this way is liable.

First of all, you should ask the building planning department responsible for existing buildings whether an extension is even allowed or approvable.

Rhineland greetings

It would be conceivable that in the execution of the new tax consultant ceiling - wooden beam ceiling cleanly cut out, secure rafters, as the beam layer also braces - you have a corresponding support. Possibly built from KSV masonry in a bond, thickness about 30 cm, with the appropriate recesses/openings. First arrange an on-site appointment with the structural engineer. For example, I installed a beam (above roof terrace/exit) according to structural engineer specifications. The living room has about 50 sqm without support, plus 3 double-wing doors + panoramic window (approx. 5.00 x 2.00) + passage 2.50 x 2.50. Room height = 3.00. It was somewhat more elaborate to manufacture. It will never hold on a wooden beam ceiling (2.8 t/m3). Of course, everything in coordination with the authorities. Great project, it will work!

Yes, I did not expect to get a reliable answer. I just wanted to hear if someone has already done this or if it is generally said "that never works" or "yes, I have done/seen that before, and I had to do this and that."

I will be approaching the authorities soon. Now I just need to find a structural engineer to take a look at the matter.

Overall, it will be an even bigger project, since a 5.5m extension will be added to the additional floor. So I will probably not be asking for the last time.

But thanks already for the answers.
