Hello, the foundation slab will be poured from mid-March (single-family house without a basement). While the temperature during the day will hardly stay below 5 degrees, this can hardly be assumed for the nights at the moment - according to the weather forecast, night temperatures around -2 degrees are to be expected. Is this a problem? What should I ask the groundworker to pay attention to (he is also under some time pressure because the house has to be erected by the end of March)?

Hi,

at these temperatures you first have to be supplied with concrete at all.

If delivered, you will receive winter concrete. This contains certain additives that take the weather conditions into account. There are various mixtures with corresponding processing instructions and requirements. This is *not* a disadvantage, the concrete quality is always excellent.

Your civil engineer must work according to these mixing specifications (or not start the work if it is not possible).

A good civil engineer knows this really by heart.

Best regards
Thorsten

Why does he have to have completed the house by the end of March already and how is he supposed to manage that in 2 weeks?

Presumably appointment for the prefabricated house installer.

Yes, but who would agree to such a contract, in March you never know what the weather will be like...

The civil engineer does not necessarily have to build the house, but the BP must be completed by the end of March because then the house will be erected. The civil engineer was commissioned by the general contractor. He makes a very conscientious impression and sets a proper pace. Now the weather just has to cooperate... but it looks quite okay, no severe frost below -3 degrees is expected anymore and during the day it should get a bit warmer from the end of next week.
