Hello,

we are currently planning the construction of our single-family house, and it was always clear that parquet would be installed. Through a vacation apartment during a holiday, we came across PU floors. The floor was very pleasant and visually very nice.

What we especially liked was the "soft step," the maintenance, and the absence of joints. We are now considering designing the entire house consistently with it.

Does anyone know good suppliers in the Munich area, or a way to view this on a large scale? Has anyone installed such an industrial floor in their house, are there any unknown problems for us?

Thanks, regards Andreas

Hello, what do you mean by PU floor? Is that a type of coating? But it’s not vinyl flooring, right? (They come as glue-down or click-lock like laminate)

Hello,
we have installed an (optically similar) epoxy resin floor or coating in the basement. The main advantage of PU is its better UV resistance, which was not important to us in the basement and with the light gray color, however.
Among other reasons, I would not use epoxy resin in living spaces.

PU is significantly more expensive, at least if you install it yourself. Since labor costs generally make up the larger portion when contracting a craftsman anyway, this disadvantage should be somewhat offset.
The coating is applied about 3mm thick (thicker depending on the substrate condition). However, suitability for industrial purposes does not say anything about suitability in private areas. In a warehouse, it is less about appearance and more about durability and easy maintenance. If the floor quickly gets streaks or scratches, that does not matter in industrial use; in a private home, acid and oil resistance is secondary.

We are very satisfied with EP in the basement. I have no experience with PU, but it will work at least as well. If I didn’t care about the price, I could certainly get along with a white PU floor in the living space.
