Pointing clinker / color differences?

Hello everyone,

we have just insulated and newly clad our old building (semi-detached house) with perforated bricks in standard format.

Everything has been done well and is finished. We would like to have everything pointed before Christmas so that we can finish the house and especially remove the large scaffolding on the gable.

We are planning to clad an extension directly attached to the house as well as our double garage with the same bricks in January.

Now the mason said that if we point now and point the rest next year, there can be color differences despite the same manufacturer and color due to temperature and humidity differences. It should all be pointed at once in one day when it is finished.

Is that true, and if so, how big is the difference?

Other batches could certainly be used and therefore color differences may also occur.

It is a matter of weighing up whether you would accept a possible deviation between the different components. They should presumably be separated by a joint/transition, so that it usually only becomes noticeable in comparison. And it often only stands out to those who know there is something to look at there. So how picky are you?

Alternatively: Talk to the jointing contractor, maybe he will bring his own scaffolding. They often have something like that too.

You can forget about having it available in January by the way. Winter is coming, or rather the wet season (not exactly ideal for the bricks and also for curing the joints).

We will leave the scaffolding up for now and take a break until it gets warmer.

When it gets warmer again, we want to continue with the [Riemchen] and then finally grout everything.
