Hello everyone, I want to plaster my walls with decorative plaster (probably Knauf Royal Fertigputz), which has a grain size of 1mm, because my walls already look quite worn out.^^ (Drill holes, rough sand plaster that flakes off quite easily and is partly coated with gypsum). Has anyone ever worked with this or a similar plaster and how do I need to prepare the surface? Regular primer or is there more to consider? Or are there any alternatives to this plaster? I would appreciate some advice. Best regards, Chris

Hi Chris, every decorative plaster is only as good as its substrate...

So if the substrate is already crumbling, everything must first be made load-bearing, clean, and even before applying the decorative plaster (of any manufacturer).

According to KNAUF, walls should be cleaned, loose material removed, defects smoothed with Rotband, and then everything primed. Only then does the decorative plaster come. If the manufacturer provides a product recommendation, for example for the primer, it should be followed unless there are other reliable findings.

Good luck!
