Energy saving: New buildings often do not correspond to the calculations
The Association of Private Homeowners (Association of Private Homeowners) is sounding the alarm: According to a recently evaluated survey by the Consumer Protection Association, builders in Germany do not get what they pay for! This is the conclusion reached by the Association of Private Homeowners after evaluating all the energy calculations checked last year for new constructions. Almost 60 percent of these certificates prepared according to the Energy Saving Ordinance contain calculation errors, and in two-thirds, incorrect assumptions are used as the basis for the calculations – which leads to false results.
But even when the calculations are correct, the Association of Private Homeowners states that there are issues with the technical construction execution:
Turnkey providers use different materials on over 54 percent of construction sites than those specified in the invoice. Quality is saved on; thinner or lower-quality insulating materials are used than planned – and paid for by the customer.
Forty percent of all houses do not comply with the Energy Saving Ordinance regulations at all after final inspection. And over half (53 percent) receive public subsidies, such as funds from the KfW Bank, but do not comply with the funding conditions! Here, the Association of Private Homeowners fears that builders might even lose the subsidies despite having invested a lot of money in the prescribed energy-saving construction method in good faith.
