Plan the position of the attic ladder for future expansion?

In an article about the conversion of the attic, I just came across the positioning of the staircase to the attic. Currently, the classic folding attic ladder is still uninspiredly placed in the middle of the hallway and house.

Are there possibly better positions?
If, for example, it is necessary to permanently convert the attic and possibly install a fixed space-saving staircase, the current position would be very inconvenient.
Therefore, I am considering moving the position to the left hallway wall and further towards Child I (blue in the picture). This would allow upgrading the hatch directly with a fixed staircase without major changes.

So far, I have not seen asymmetrically installed attic hatches; are there any reasons besides the appearance against it? The attic already has 2m height at that point, and the positioning should not play a major role for a later room layout in the attic?

How wide would a later staircase be? There would hardly be anything left of the hallway.

Tendency:
If it becomes a problem later, forgo the dressing room and provide the staircase there.

The rafters or supporting pillars, for example. Where is the staircase from the ground floor to the upper floor? If you are considering it, I would build it so that exactly above the staircase a staircase to the attic can be created. Or you include it right away.

However, those cannot be determined based on your plan excerpt – not least because the location cannot be recognized in the overall floor plan.

Albert Borland, his mother, and I do not believe that, Tim. In the blue position, you not only do not “upgrade” the staircase, but even with the door open, you cannot use its full, if you can call it that, “width.”
By the way, I recommend reading , freshly from today’s menu :-)

I will clarify the position of the pillars/rafters, good hint. The staircase to the ground floor is at the end of the drawing, and yes, there is also the possibility to repurpose another room to install a proper staircase. However, my question was not about planning even more hopefully unnecessary things by spending a lot of money for "what-if" scenarios, but to see if one can gain additional space in the future "for free" through a small replanning without incurring disadvantages.
