Pimping Real Wood Staircase

We have a solid wood staircase in dark wood from the ground floor to the first floor. We now want to renovate the staircase without immediately investing XX thousands of euros.

I once read that there are so-called "panel" floors that can be used to cover the existing one? Is that possible? Or just sand it down and paint it? Are there paints that then look like beech? So light and friendly? I just don't want to paint it white.

this staircase can be covered by a professional with laminate or even better with engineered parquet, for the treads there is an aluminum profile in different colors for the edge. The risers can also be covered with parquet or laminate, the connection to the stringers can be permanently sealed with elastic sealant.

what is really money, you can have it done cheaply, then it will be botched and you won’t enjoy it, or you invest a reasonable amount and you will be able to enjoy a beautiful staircase for 30 or more years.

"Being stingy is cool" does not apply to good craftsmanship!
