Hello everyone,
I am building a single-family house with a developer. The basement is now completed, and the basement ceiling has also been concreted. Masonry work on the ground floor is starting. Last week, the waterproof basement was insulated with 10 cm perimeter insulation. Here are some questions: how must this insulation be installed? For example, the top row of the insulation in my case consists mostly of scrap pieces put together—is that allowed?
Do the insulation boards not need to extend a bit into the window??? Also, the insulation boards are not always fitted with tongue and groove but sometimes have a smooth side on a stepped joint—is that allowed? Some of the insulation boards were foamed in place, but only 2-3 cm was foamed inside, the rest is hollow inside. How should the boards be properly glued, since several boards in the top row came loose the next day, but have since been glued back on? How thick should the adhesive be on the boards??? Can you foam 3 cm between the boards??? I am grateful for your opinions.
