Pave entrance! Costs

Hello everyone,

I'm new here and will introduce myself properly when I get the chance. Recently, we tore up part of the asphalt at our driveway and redid the substructure because the exit had a huge bump towards the sidewalk, and otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get out with my very low VW Beetle.

We did the substructure as far as we could; frost gravel was laid and on top of that mineral crushed stone, so that we could use the driveway again.
We have also already raised the manhole cover shown in the picture.

Now I have requested quotes from a few road construction companies for asphalt paving. I got absolutely no feedback, only one company got back to me, took a look at the site in person, then sent an offer asking for 1800 euros for 2.5 hours of work including materials. The area to be asphalted is 12m x 3m.

I understand that the machinery and materials also cost something, but isn’t that a bit overpriced?

Has anyone already commissioned similar work for comparison?

near me the prices are similar... add labor costs, machine costs, travel, VAT etc etc etc... you can roughly calculate it yourself.

check the directory of your area there are some small companies specializing in small areas otherwise just call various civil engineering companies (smaller) because big companies don’t even take on such small construction sites

I hired a small company to do it and in the end it cost me 1500,- euros.

You can't really complain about that =) but keep in mind that you might not be able to claim various frost damages, etc., since the base/substrate layer is already present and is usually the cause of the damage (except at the seams)
