Dear forum members,

after some sleepless nights, I would like to post my question in the forum now and very much hope for your answers.

We are currently building our house and the shell is already completed. However, our thin exterior walls are worrying me:
We decided on a KLB brick with a thickness of 17.5 cm due to the small plot of land. Both the structural engineer and the planner (my brother-in-law) consider 17.5 cm to be completely sufficient.
There will also be 16 cm of insulation added, but it feels so thin to me

... now it’s already too late. However, it keeps bothering me.

Also, the slots in the guest WC led to a breakthrough in the wall. Unfortunately, the construction company also built a 17.5 cm wall on the ground floor as a load-bearing interior wall (based on the structural engineering, which assumed the 17.5 cm wall).

Do you think that a thickness of 17.5 cm is sufficient for exterior walls? It really looks thin.
Otherwise, our house will be very high-quality with geothermal energy, ventilation system, etc... I hope the thin shell won’t cause any problems.

Many thanks in advance
Marall

Hello,

if everything matches with [Statik/Wärmebedarf], then it's all good

What do you mean by too thin? That it will collapse? It is checked by the structural engineer and the building authority. I have no idea about KLB blocks, but if it gets even thicker, you'll end up with shooting shafts as windows when insulation and plaster or clinker are added... But to reassure you, we also have 17.5cm except in the basement, where it's thicker.

@Perlenmann: You hit the nail on the head... Panic that it will collapse. Then someone said that you get problems with cracks etc... It reassures me that you are satisfied. Best regards
